Any softener added to the drawer would not flush into the machine and was left behind.

Only a screwdriver and adjustable big-mouth pliers are needed.

Plenty of you tube videos to show the steps needed. Given the problem, I diagnosed that either the hot or cold valves were not letting water through (there is a single hot solenoid valve and 4 cold solenoid valves mounted on a common manifold. I checked the resistance of all 5 solenoids and they were at specification at just over 1,000 ohms so I concluded one of the solenoid valves was sticking (ie the one that fed water to the softener compartment in the drawer). I was initially going to order just the 5 valves but the part I ordered included the valves, drawer compartment and the overhead compartment "shower head" AND included all interconnecting hoses. I opted for this as I ended up with a clean system and it was very straightforward to change out (took just under 1 hour)
