Overheating and burning out thermal fuses / melting heating element wiring.
Tools
Philips head screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
January of 2021, I replaced the heating element and the 3 fuses that came along with the element. The element itself seemed fine, but the unit was not heating and thus not drying as expected. In March 2021, the unit stopped heating again, and I replaced the fuses, but kept the heating element in place. In June, the unit stopped heating again, and I found that the wires connected to the heating element were melted off (thermal fuse did not blow as it should have). I replaced the wiring and the disconnects with high heat replacements, and put everything back together. Not even two weeks later, the thermal fuse blew again. My suspicion was that the control board was faulty and constantly sending the "heat on" signal and thus blowing the fuses and overheating the wiring attached to the element, so I decided to change the control board with this part. That was June 25th, and so far so good (July 12th), so we'll see what happens over the next month or two. The only tricky part, and it's a design flaw from Samsung, is that one of the the black/brown connectors can be installed in a flipped manner, and that prevented the control panel on the front of the unit from working. I thought I got a bad board, but the old one showed the same behavior, and I finally realized the issue after studying my "before swapping" photos of the old board connected. Overall, easy install and only had to remove the top panel of the dryer, and the two screws holding the board assembly to the side panel.
