Repair & Advice
The original check valve was deformed due to age and a clump of hair stuck in the valve. This was the correct part for our washer, but unfortunately did not solve the issue. Installing a new water pump did finally resolve the no drain issue! Replacing this part, check valve, will prevent old/dirty water from draining back into the system/tank. So I do not consider it a waste of time or money. Please do inspect and clean out the filter at the front/bottom of your Samsung washer. It will help prevent hair/debris from passing further and causing damage.
The same goes for your lint filter on the dryer regardless of make/model. It needs to be cleaned before every use. Also, using fabric sheets will simply coat the lint filter with an invisible film which will hinder the passage of air through it. Imagine running a marathon with a sock in your mouth. It can be done but it will make life hell. Verify this issue by simply taking the lint filter to the sink and run a bit of water onto it. Water will easily flow through a clean filter. One used with softener sheets will have water bead up on the filter. Don't worry, all you have to do is wash the lint filter with soapy water and allow it to dry completely before use. Yes, you will have to do this every time softener sheets are used. But why would you now that you know they simply hinder the air plow, thus causing the dryer to run longer using up electricity. It adds up over time!
