Problem
After a power outage (brown out) the fridge was cycling power on and off (interior lights flickering). Was not a reset issue.
Tools
Checked powers and grounds with DVOM. Also checked control board for its 5v DC AND 12v DC power inputs and all were present. This led to the determination that the issue was on the control board.
Repair & Advice
On this model ALL the circuit boards are located on the TOP of the fridge under a raised plastic cover. Actually quite handy for diagnosis. You can flip the entire plastic assembly and expose the boards and their components for PROPER testing. I’m sure I could trouble shoot the control board on the component level (I work on PCB’s a lot) but PartsDr.com had it in stock and available quickly and I needed the fridge back up and running asap as of course we just went to the grocery store for a complete restock. Also, there appear to be NO fridges with the seltzer dispenser built in anymore so replacement of fridge was going to be difficult to say the least. Anyway, board was a very quick and easy replacement and with the location of them I could replace it and leave the boards exposed incase the surge had done further damage and more testing was needed. I also fixed the ice maker issues while the fridge was defrosted. (Luckily we have a garage fridge, lost some beer *sniff* but saved the food!) The fridge is working perfectly and SO FAR the ice maker is not becoming a solid block like it used too! Watched PartsDr.com video on YT about the ice maker fix (mine DID NOT have the “Y” clips) and then “re-sealed” the ice maker like they showed and added some metal tape sealant like others had suggested. So far…SO GOOD! We are a few weeks out from the repair and normally by now the ice maker would be useless! Thanks PartsDr!
