Repair & Advice
First, a word of advice… properly diagnose the problem. After almost 15 years of reliable operation, our ice maker began slowly leaking water outside of its internal tray that bled into the ice drawer, creating a block of ice as it froze all the cubes together. I figured it was a seal or gasket failure in the ice maker itself and pulled it out and put it on my workbench. The moment I looked at it, I was no longer interested in repairing it as the teflon coating had disintegrated and was flaking into the ice. So I came to Parts Dr for the part which amazingly... was less than half the price of what I saw on other sites! Turns out there were a couple reasons for that. First, no commercial intended here but… the PartsDr has the best appliance parts prices online that I've been able to find… so that is reason #1. Reason #2, and here's the important lesson, is that the ice maker replacement part was for the 'core' ice maker mechanism… not the entire device! The wiring harness, plastic cover & lower mounting bracket had to be salvaged from the old ice maker… which were in perfectly fine condition & worked just fine. However, if I had thrown the old ice maker out before getting the new one… well, that would have been ugly! All was just fine here, though. I simply transplanted these three items from the old ice maker to the new, installed the device in the freezer and everything ran 100%. For less than $70, this was a easy and inexpensive fix. Thx so much, Partsdr!!

Repair & Advice
It was a very straightforward, plug and play repair process. Replacement part works exactly as ordered. Fridge took almost 24 hrs to wake up and notice the new part and start making ice, but smooth sailing after that.
