Repair & Advice
Ice maker is relatively easy to replace for an average DIY'er. I suspected the heating element that releases the ice from the unit went bad, and I think I was right. The element is not replaceable (I think) so I replaced the entire unit and we're back in business.

Repair & Advice
After finding a tiny O-ring in an ice cube, my ice maker began dumping water periodically and freezing solid.I'd forget until I went to dispense ice and the motor would no longer work. I watched a You Tube video and decided not to take time off of work to wait for a repair. Parts Dr. had the easiest parts matching system and the part was less expensive than I thought it would be. The part arrived in a few days. Half an hour of easy work, brand new ice maker (whole unit), a motor that isn't jamming, nice ice cubes, and a bonus of my fridge no longer "moaning and groaning". I didn't realize the noises it had been making were part of this prolem. I would definitely consider doing this again. I appreciate having my own time be a larger factor in fixing something.
