Problem
Loud grinding sounds coming from under dryer. Would not heat up or dry cloths.
Tools
Philips screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, 5/16 nut driver, 1/2inch drive rachet, crescent wrench.
Repair & Advice
Hi, I had to replace the blower wheel that cracked as well as bearing. To remove the housing its just removing a few 5/16 screws but to remove the blower wheel and bearing the threads are reversed. So be sure right is loosing and left is tight. All in all if you have this issue I would say to replace both parts same time like I did. I ended up stripping the bolt since I was tightening the screw not loosening it. You will also want some lock tight for the threads

Repair & Advice
The dryer was suddenly very loud. I disassembled the dryer and determined that the noise was coming from the blower. I believe the bearings were going bad and since the blower housing is a large plastic part, it acted like a drum and amplified the noise. I ordered a housing with new bearings and it came in 2 days. Then I tried to take the blower wheel off of the assembly in order to reuse it on eht new housing. When I applied force to the wrench, the blower wheel broke. it was brittle from having heat on it for 10+ years. So, I ordered a new blower wheel. This took 8 days to get to me. The new blower wheel went on the new blower housing easily and the reinstall was pretty easy. I also installed a new blower belt as the existing one was showing some cracks. Hardest part of putting the dryer back together is getting the dryer drum belt back in place. The dryer is now back to normal and is very quiet.
