Repair & Advice
I searched the Internet for info about water leaking into my washer between loads of laundry and found useful information in this web site, including the assessment that it probably was a faulty water inlet valve (the washer is eleven years old). My brother, who is not a professional Handyman but is good with repair work, viewed a video on how to do the repair and although he had never done this before, offered to do the repair if I obtained the part. I ordered the part through this web site - it was very easy to do so - and it arrived promptly; within a couple of days. When my brother had time, he did the replacement, with his wife and me "assisting". He found the valve repair itself to go smoothly - I can't report an accurate amount of time for the repair, because he first found that the water shutoff valves for the washer were not completely shutting off the water, so we had to deal with that - eventually had to shut off the water supply to the entire house. After the water inlet valve replacement, we ran a load of laundry to test and all worked fine. It has been a week since the repair and no water has leaked into the washer between laundry loads - at least yet. I would rate the Repair Difficulty as "easy" for someone like my brother, who is handy with tools and strong enough to move the washer away from the wall. It would not have been easy for me.
