Problem
Display was unreadable and set point was impossible to guess.
Tools
very thin standard flat screwdriver
Repair & Advice
Disconnect power to freezer. Carefully neutralize any static by bringing your body, new control panel and the freezer to same potential. Using very thin blade remove the old control panel and disconnect the power cable. Remove new panel and connect the power cable. snap the new panel into place on freezer and plug power. Set desired freezer temperature and lock settings to prevent unwanted temperature set point changes. That's it! about 5 minutes.

Pick or small screwdriver (pocket screwdriver)
Repair & Advice
The display on my Frigidaire upright freezer hasn't been working properly for a couple years, sometimes it displays partial number/letters and sometimes it's totally blank. The fact that you have to replace electronics on a freezer that is still less than 5 years old today is a story for another day. To replace the display/control module, I popped it off of the door using my fingers, then to disconnect the wiring harness connector you need to remove the connector lock by sliding it back, I believe I used a mechanics pick or small screwdriver to remove this locking tab. Those of you with properly sized fingers may not need any tools to do this. Once you remove this locking tab then you can squeeze the connector and remove it. BE GENTLE WITH THE CONNECTOR. If you are struggling with the connector there is probably a you-tube video that will explain better how to remove it. Appliance connectors come in all shapes and sizes with many different locking mechanisms. Generally more muscle is the wrong answer with these connectors, you may end up with a broken connector and then potentially connection issues if you don't replace or otherwise repair the connector. Once it's disconnected, connect the new display, reinstall the locking tab and push the display back into the door. The display was well packaged and undamaged when I received it, very pleased with the service from PartsDr.
