Repair & Advice
Replacing the small halogen bulb that lights the stove top surface was straightforward. Steps: 1. Remove single philips head screw that holds the light cover in. It screws in on one side so be careful the cover of glass does not flip down and fall. 2. Turn power off to appliance. 3. Make sure the old Halogen bulb is cold before pulling it out or use a heat barrier to avoid a serious burn. 4. Insert the new bulb. 5. Replace glass cover and refasten with the screw. 5. Turn power back on.
NOTE: My old bulb had exploded into small pieces and showered pieces down on the stop top when I removed the cover. There was no way to tell that in advance. You might want to hold a pan or plate underneath as you remove the cover to catch any pieces. I used a small needle-nose pliers to extract the old bulb connectors.
The hardest step was finding the original part number for the replacement lamp because it disintegrated. It was a non-standard appliance bulb.
Once I had the part #, Part Dr had the part at the best price and delivered quickly.
