Problem
Dish Washer belt broke and it would not drain.
Tools
1/4 inch nut driver to remove bottom panel.
Repair & Advice
The new belt instructions said to place the belt on the motor pulley in the grooves and then stretch the belt to the impeller pulley and spin it on. I tried several times to install the belt this way but it was impossible to do so. I sat back and thought about it for a while. I then put the belt up the shaft of the impeller above the pulley, stretched it onto the motor pulley and then spun it on the impeller pulley.

Problem
The drive belt broke and the dishwasher would not drain.
Tools
Cross tip screwdriver, 5/32 nut driver, baby vice grips, LED flashlight
Repair & Advice
I got the belt along with a spare for my 1989 Maytag portable dishwasher. It was a perfect replacement for the broken belt and I now have a spare for the next belt break in ten or so years. The difficult part of the job was crawling around on my belly while getting the belt onto both pulleys. A bit of a knuckle-scraper if you aren’t wearing gloves due to the tight quarters.
