Problem
Ok so my microwave kept tripping the circuit breaker. Initially I watched YouTube videos and found it could be the fuse of the door switch. After replacing the fuse, it was still tripping the breaker. I then had to take out the switch panel and find which switch was burned out and it happened to the the door switch. This part was NOT sold at the Home Depot or Lowe’s so I ordered it from you. It came in 2 days!
Tools
A basic Phillips screw driver to get the top, and side panels off to reach the switch controls.
Repair & Advice
My microwave is above the range so of course I had to have someone take the top off. By the way I have a Frigidaire microwave. There are two crews at the top, one on top of the control panel and two on the inside of the door panel where the repair was needed. Be very careful after taking the door panel screws out as the black plastic casing for the switches is expensive to repair if you break it. In addition there are a LOT of wires (which by the way are zip tied together) you will need to be careful with as well. I did NOT have the tool to test the currents flowing to see if it was bad, I just used my finger and pressed the little button on the bottom of every switch and the one that was broken did NOT move and click like the other two. It took about a good 30 minutes for everything, taking the casing out replacing the switch and putting the microwave back together. By the way I am a 50 year old woman, however, this is not the first home repair I have done.
