Problem
The refrigerator began clicking and turning power on and off before failing and showing a SYCE Code.
Tools
1/4 inch wrench and 1/4 inch socket.
Repair & Advice
Unplug the refrigerator before starting. Replacing the board requires removing the front grill which just pulls off the front of the refrigerator at the bottom below the doors. It is easier to remove this if the doors are open. Remove the single 1/4 inch sheet metal screw that holds the front of the Control board housing in place using the 1/4 inch wrench. Pull the control board housing down and forward to release it from the rear clip and pull it through the grill opening. Disconnect the cables and remove the cable retainer clip at the rear of the housing. The new board has different connectors and comes with adapter cables. Fit the cables in the new control housing so they fit and do not stick up above the top of the housing. Reinstall the retaining cable clip on the new control board housing. Slide the housing in through the opening and hold it up against the bottom of the refrigerator while sliding it back until it is hooked in the clip at the back. Check the alignment of the front tab and reinsert the 1/4 inch sheet metal screw into the hole from the old control board in the bottom of the refrigerator. Tighten the screw in place. Replace the grill and plug the refrigerator back in. CAUTION. IF YOU ARE REPLACING PART # 242000406 WITH THIS PART #5303918498 YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO REPLACE THE TEMERATURE CONTROL BOARD BEHIND THE ICEMAKER CONTROLS OR YOUR REFRIGERATOR WILL NOW WORK. The new main control board will not be able to communicate with the older temperature control board and even the lights inside will not come on when the doors are opened. The compatible temperature control board part number is 234973711. Once I replaced both boards the refrigerator worked like new. The old control board that failed had a bad capacitor and a failed transistor which were visible when the board was removed. I gave this a four star rating because I felt you should have noted the possible need for the second board with the replacement part lookup. Otherwise shipping and the part itself were 5 star.

Problem
Error code on user panel and no cool on refrigerator side of unit.
Tools
Panel removal tool or anything flat to remove trim.
Repair & Advice
Researched error code online to determine possible causes. Identified user panel (Main control Board) communication with electronic control board as possible problem. Most online forums recommended replacing in pairs. Ordered and replaced part. Total time was about 1 1/2 hours. Had to remove all the food from refrigerator and freeze. The unit must be placed on its side or back access the electronic control board. If placing on back take precaution to not crush the water line leading to the ice maker.
Con: Website offers three methods of delivery (i.e. next day, two day and standard). I paid for next day delivery. But item arrived two days later!
