Problem
Oven of Kenmore range would not come on, everything else worked.
Tools
Ohm meter, screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
Getting ready to cook dinner for guests and oven would not light, everything else worked ok - burners, broiler, etc. I looked on Google for ideas and a electrician friend said most times it's the ignitor. I checked it with the ohm meter and also direct with 120 volt cable.
The original ignitor had a plastic connector and what I saw for sale on other sites did not have that & would have to be spliced using wire nuts. The Parts Dr part came with the connector which made repair much easier & quicker - 2 screws and the connection. GREAT.
Sears wanted $91 for the same part that Parts Dr charged approx $30 and it was identical to the Sears part.
Thanks "Doc".

Problem
Oven would not light in Whirlpool range (stovetop burners and broiler worked fine)
Tools
Phillips head screwdriver, 5/16 nut driver, flashlight
Repair & Advice
Oven took longer and longer to light until it no longer worked. Since the stovetop and broiler worked, I realized that I needed a new oven igniter for the oven. I do not normally do much repair work but this was easy to do.
First, removed the oven door so that I would not damage it during the repair. Make sure that you read the manual for how to do this first. For my Whirlpool oven, I had to open the door completely, put a finishing nail in a hole for each hinge, close partially and then pull-up to remove door.
After using the circuit breaker to shut off the electricity, I then removed the bottom oven plate and the heat diffuser pan using a Phillips head screwdriver. I then removed the bottom drawer in order to reach and unplug the oven igniter. I removed the 2 nuts of the oven igniter with a 5/16 nut driver and installed the new one. After plugging it in to the connector (the igniter had the right plug adapter so no need to strip the wires and attach the old plug adapter), put the power back on and tested. Then put everything back in place.
Quite easy to do and now the oven lights quickly and heats properly.
