Problem
Dryer would not start.
Tools
Basic screwdriver, nut driver, multimeter to test for continuity.
Repair & Advice
Was hoping the push to start switch was bad (+/-$25) which was reasonable considering the 15yrs old dryer. By the time my part arrived I was able to test and verify that the timer switch was the root problem. The timer switch was $195, so I decided to bail on the repair. Since I had NOT installed the timer switch (still in packaging) I was able to return the start switch for refund. But I did have to pay return shipping.

Broke the tab on the dryer on switch

Repair & Advice
Our dryer stopped working, so I started checking the components with low voltage. It eventually turned out to be the timer was bad. If the timer is making a quiet noise when the dryer should be off it might be bad. I switched out the timer and it works great. But while checking the components I broke the tab holding the start button in place. Be careful with this because that tab is fragile. The replacement part came in quickly and I switched it out too. Now everything is working well.
