Problem
Would occasionally stop cooling, interior light would flash when the door was opened, strange looking letters on display sometimes after opening the door
Tools
Putty knife, screwdriver
Repair & Advice
I tried to use the putty knife to pry the panel from the front of the freezer. That didn't seem to be working so I pulled the interior panel off of the door. The back of the door was covered with cardboard. I measured where the panel was in the door and cut the cardboard to access the panel and push it out from the back. Once I cut the cardboard I discovered there isn't any access to the panel from the back. Reassembled the door. Then I tried to pry it out again using the putty knife and screwdriver and finally got it out. I broke a few of the tabs that were holding it in when I removed the panel but the fit is so tight that after I replaced the control board (which only took a couple of minutes and was easy) the panel went back in securely. It would be nice if they included instructions on how to get the control panel out. I would recommend putting some tape on the freezer door around the control panel to make sure you don't scratch the finish trying to remove the panel.

Problem
Holding tabs on refrigerator control panel had to be broken in order to remove the board. However, once I reinstalled the controller, it seemed to click back in and is holding securely. This is my backup freezer, and I don’t swing the door open much, but the controller on the door still sitting tight.
Tools
2 Putty knives, small screwdriver, tape (to help reduce scratches on door face). Need a strong putty knife to twist and break tabs. Used 2nd putty knife under knife I was using to pry to help prevent damage to door damage.
Repair & Advice
Replacement was relatively easy. Total time 20 minutes. Hardest part was removing the controller fr. the door face. All the securing tabs had to be broken, as they were designed for one time use. I guess if you ordered the entire controls board and panel, the fact the tabs broke would not concerning, but for me it’s a backup freezer so I took the chance. Once. I reinstalled the panel, it seemed to click back in and to date is not an issue and still fitting in the door snugly.

Our freezer wasn't keeping our food frozen and we had an appliance repairman come look at it and he said we needed a new control panel. We bought this and got it quickly and it was easy to install.
