Problem
Washer stopped before the spin cycle, sometimes. Hitting the top of the washer would get it to continue.
Tools
Philips screwdriver, 3/8" nut driver, flat screwdriver to pry off clips, pliers
Repair & Advice
Replaced lid closed switch on Kenmore 110.92593420 washer.
The switch worked, but it had broken off from the mounting screws. I couldn't see that until I removed the switch. That is why it always worked when I pressed on it, but did not always work while the washer was running.
Removal.
Unplugged washer.
Removed the two philips screws holding the control panel on.
Lifted the control panel up and tilted it back.
Unplugged the lid closed wiring plug.
Opened the access panel to view the three hoses.
Used pliers to loosen the clamps for the hoses. Pulled the hoses from the barb fittings.
Pried off the two clips holding the washer using the flat screwdriver.
Tilted the whole outside of the washer towards me and lifted it off the chassis.
Put a towel on the floor. Laid the front of the washer outside on its face.
Removed he lid closed wiring plug from its hole.
Used the 3/8" nut driver to unscrew the ground wire.
Used the flat screwdriver to remove the wiring harness from the clips.
Used the philips screwdriver to remove the broken lid closed switch.
Replacement.
My washer uses the short tube for the wiring harness. The replacement part has a scored tube so it can be broken at the right length.
Inserted the wiring harness back under the clips.
Screwed in the new lid closed switch.
Attached the ground wire.
Put the wiring harness plug into its hole.
Lifted the outside of the washer from the floor and put it back on the chassis. It needs to be tilted on the way it was tilted off. It needs to drop over the alignment posts on the chassis. The control panel should be able to drop into place if everything is correctly assembled. I had to fiddle with it
Reinstalled the three hoses on their barbs. Put the hose clamps back in place.
Closed the access panel to the hoses.
Plugged in the lid closed wiring plug.
Reinstalled the two clips holding the outside of the washer to the chassis.
Put the control panel back in its place.
Screwed down the control panel.
Plugged in the washer.
Tested the washer to make sure the lid closed switch was working correctly.

Problem
Wash will not go to spin cycle.
Tools
Not sure. Handyman brought tools with him. But I think he followed instructions from the package.
Repair & Advice
When wash will not proceed to spin cycle, I googled for troubleshooting. I found out that the lid switch had to be replaced. I also viewed video of the do it yourself task, called my handyman so he could view the 7 minute task demonstration in you tube. I ordered the lid switch and also ordered the knob which has been broken for more than a year. When both parts arrived, handyman took about half an hour to do both. He said the video was very helpful.

Washer wouldn't drain

Repair & Advice
Took awhile to diagnose that it was just the lid switch and not something else wrong. Once diagnosed, replacing the switch was easy.
