Problem
The ice maker was making loud noises and not producing consistently crushed ice. Discovered the crusher housing has been damaged and needed to be replaced.
Tools
Screwdriver to remove housing from the rest of the ice maker drawer. Masking tape to temporarily hold parts in place.
Repair & Advice
Removed ice tray from ice maker. Removed 6 screws (4 large and 2 small - remember which goes where) holding housing in place. Unscrewed plate holding spring for door release rod (at back of ice drawer) so it could be maneuvered to unhook it from door. Used tape to hold spring for door release in place - it had to be unscrewed in order to disengage the door release rod from the door. Removed washer and clip holding ice crusher/dispenser axle in place to free housing. Removed housing, replaced with new, rehooked up door release rod and replaced all screws.

Ice crusher housing broke

Repair & Advice
The housing I received was missing the flap. I am glade the flapper was not broken, there is no where to order this part. I there was no complete nstructions on how to assemble. There is one piece of the rotating steel blades that is loose and I did not see a place to secure it to the housing. It still will not crush ice, but does dispense ice. I look on YouTube and on line for instruction. Not available. I had use my best judgement. If there had been instructions the rating would have been higher. Next I will buy the complete ice tray assembly for a few dollars more.
