My freezer was not "frost free" anymore....

All It required was a screwdriver and a little patience with a hair dryer to remove built up frost from the cooler coils.

I have a fridge/freezer that I keep on back porch, this past summer's humidity levels here in Memphis, TN. were through the roof and it caused my heater bar to short out inside the freezer section what with all the EXTRA moisture. This in turn caused my cooling ports from freezer to fridge section to clog closed with built up ice and frost resulting in spoiled food and a freezer that looked like Antarctica.The actual repair and replacement of part was EASY and took no time at all BUT defrosting the built up frost and ice and cleanup of that mess did.... have plenty of towels handy, I suggest plugging cooling ports with paper towel to avoid even a bigger mess or emptying entire fridge of it's contents before you crank up the hair dryer and making sure all the water is cleaned up and dried up before you plug unit back in and allow at least and hour run time before you load unit back up with food.... I was lucky and it was cold enough that I did not have to empty fridge section during my repair and I plugged ports with paper towels to keep water and heat from dryer getting into fridge section (mine's an over under style).

Freezer was frosting up because the defrost heating element had failed

Just a small socket to take the inside back cover off the freezer. The part plugged in manually.

My freezer was frosting up. I removed the old heating element and confirmed it had lost continuity and needed to be replaced. I ordered the new one and it was the wrong size. I returned it for a refund and got the new one. The only reason it took 2 hours was because I had to defrost the freezer first.
