Problem
Maytag LA490 washer tub was leaking water out top seal during spin cycle.
Tools
Phillip's and Flat Head screw drivers, 10mm and 5/16 sockets and driver, 1/2" thick wood spacers, silicone caulk, wire brush, power driver
Repair & Advice
Removed two screws at bottom front to remove panel. Ran washer to determine source of leak. Unplugged. Removed two screws at top front. Raised top panel up on hinges at back. Measure distance from top of tub to side panels. This is thickness of spacers needed below. Loosened two tub seal clamp screws. Pried loose and removed clamp. Removed rubber tub seal. Gently pried up top of tub from inside tub and removed. Two places of lower tub lip were badly rusted but not bad enough to discard. Cleaned sealing surfaces with power driver and 6" wire wheel. Used three 1/2" thick (b/c I didn't measure per above) wood spacers to vertically position removable top of tub. Liberally caulked joint between removable top and bottom part of tub at lip. Immediately installed new seal and pressed into lip of tub. Immediately installed existing clamp. Removed excess caulk. Allowed caulk to cure 24 hours before testing washer.

Problem
Maytag LSE1000 washer tub and tub ring gasket leak.
Tools
Hex head drivers and flat head screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
Remove front panel two hex head screws at bottom. Removed two hex head screws from back top then two from front underside corners. Verify the gap between the tub and lid. This will will the same when resettingtub ring. Lift lid right to left and it is held on the left side with an attached cord. Now remove gasket seal ring using flat head screwdriver. Be careful when removing ring that you don't break tilt switch. Make sure the new gasket/seal sits into lip to same way the old one came out. Now reverse steps and ensure the gap is the same.
Unfortunately, my 35 year old washer still leaks from the gasket/seal. Time for a new one.
