Repair & Advice
The installation process would have been a bewildering saga without the support from Parts Dr. For that Parts Dr. proves itself to be a trustworthy source and support, where Mr. Ryan Anderson exemplifies the professionalism.
For the door lock issue of Frigidaire Gallery Washer model FTW445GES2, a unit of part 131763202 was ordered from Parts Dr. as suggested by the web search done on the subject. After its arrival, the interface discrepancy between the original and new parts was noticed. Parts Dr. not only issued RMA immediately but also made a fast search to locate the right replacement part (part 137523400, an upgrade kit with a new door lock). Yet the package arrived with the 2nd page of its installation instruction almost completely intelligible due to being printed multiple times. While Parts Dr didn't have the info readily available, it searched and emailed a copy within few hours. Mr. Ryan Anderson also offered help during the installation process.
The instruction by the manufacturer is not adequately written for most consumers. But the installation in fact is rather straight forward, taking about one hour. One only needs open (1) the back (to re-arrange the 9-in connector to the Speed Control Unit (SCU) at the left side; (2) the front bottom panel (to re-arrange the green wire connector to the pump located on the right side; (3) the right side of the bellow (to go behind to re-arrange connectors (colour to colour, shape to shape) and replace the door lock. In addition, one needs also change the door latch, of course. That's all.
