Problem
Washing machine agitated during spin cycle.
Tools
Socket set, screwdrivers, hammer, channel locks.
Repair & Advice
Disassembled entire washer, removed old transmission, and installed new one, plus new spin bearing and tub seal. Had to scrape out hardened up detergent residue. Plastic pulley on bottom of transmission had seized on the old shaft - had to buy a new pulley.

Problem
I was hearing a racket from the interior of the washing machine which sounded like metallic parts acting upon each other, but not in a good way.
Tools
I used simple hand tools of the sort which most average households have.
Repair & Advice
I would like to caution that the fasteners that secure the transmission to the cradle that holds it are not a typical threaded set up. The fasteners find their way into the bottom of the transmission the same way a screw would into wood.

Problem
Bearing at bottom of transmission was failing due to leaking tub seal
Tools
Wrench, screwdriver, pliers
Repair & Advice
Removing the tub and seal can be tedious due to build up of detergent residue and rust, but replacement of the transmission itself is fairly straightforward.
