Problem
Oven would not heat
Tools
Torx 20 screwdriver, Phillips head screwdriver, large flathead screwdriver
Repair & Advice
My Bosch oven would not heat up. After some checking, realized the igniter was not heating up to light the gas burner in the bottom of the oven. Removed the igniter from the oven by removing the back cover of the unit, unscrewed the igniter from the mounting bracket inside the oven, pulled it through the back wall of the oven, unplugged it and checked it for continuity with a digital multimeter. It had none, so replaced and put the oven back together. Problem solved. Works great now.

Problem
Bosch Gas Oven would not heat up.
Tools
Torx 20 wrench on a ratchet and adjustable wrench.
Repair & Advice
The part itself is simple to instal and worked like a charm. Parts Dr held up there end of the deal...Bosch engineers not so much.
The two small T20 cap screws with lock nuts holding the defective igniter on the sheet metal bracket were a nightmare to remove. WD40 did nothing. First one broke rather than loosen, the second one the head striped. I had to use a dremel tool with a grinding wheel and grind the head off the second screw. Then a trip to Lowe’s for replacement screws.

Problem
Oven would not preheat
Tools
Torx 20 screwdriver, flathead screwdriver
Repair & Advice
My Bosch oven would not preheat and after doing a little research online it appeared to be a faulty igniter. I pulled the oven out, turned off the gas and unplugged it (very important), removed the back panel, and disconnected the old igniter. From the front of the oven I unscrewed the bottom plate and took it out to gain access to the igniter, and after removing two screws/nuts I pulled out the part. Installing the new igniter took just a few minutes, and after putting in the bottom plate and oven back panel on, everything worked perfectly. Also, one note: I never removed the oven door to do this repair - although many recommend doing this. Access was pretty easy in my case and dealing with the door was not necessary and would have been an additional annoyance.
