Repair & Advice
I have maintained my wall double oven in meticulous condition since 1999. Parts wear out and I needed to replace the oven gasket to ensure heat did not escape and and steam did not enter the very sensitive glass control panel above the top oven. Your company had the best price and an original part.
The first thing is to start from the bottom rear of the oven door and pull up on one end of the gasket. There is a gap where both ends meet. These are the tails of the gasket that get pushed into the holes to hold the gasket in place. Start here.
You will find the gasket is held in place by small little triangular metal pins on the underside of this gasket that are slightly spring loaded. Pull up to get the gasket out. Continue to do this till you come to the other end. Prior to putting the new one in, I would suggest you clean all around where the old gasket was.
Install: Start by grabbing one end of the gasket and push the triangular pin in the hole. You should ensure that you start with the first pin nearest the frayed part of the tail and start at the rear part of the door. Continue this till you go all around the oven door till both ends meet.
Prior to pushing in the tail ends of the gasket in their respective holes, double check to make sure the gasket is firmly in place.
Now the more tricky part. It seems not possible to get the tails of the gasket in the holes, but you have to slowly push the tails in. They recommend to use the eraser side of a pencil. No way, use a chopstick (it’s thin and you can work the tail of the gasket in the hole better than a pencil). My friend said I can use a skinny screwdriver, but if you do, be careful.
That is it folks. This should help anyone that needs to replace an oven gasket.
