WPW10310240 Programming Instructions

After installing the new control board part number WPW10310240 the display will flash PE0000.  This means the refrigerator is in programming mode and you will need to enter the program code from the model and serial number tag on the refrigerator.  Please follow the instructions below to program the new control board.  We have come across two different programming versions for this control board depending on the model refrigerator.  Please make sure to look at both versions to see which one applies to your refrigerator.  Also, on some model refrigerators the door(s) may need to be opened to program.

Programming Mode (Version 1):

NOTE: The Program Code is located on the Serial Plate on this unit after the word Code.

1. Press and hold the Door Alarm Keypad DoorAlarm.
2. Press and hold Freezer Temperature Down Keypad.
3. Release the Door Alarm Keypad DoorAlarm and wait 3 seconds.
4. The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode.
5. Entry is confirmed by pressing the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad once more.
6. The control will display the current Program CODE. This value should be validated with the Program CODE printed on the unit serial plate.

NOTE: If the Program CODE is correct, the Programming Mode is exited by pressing Door Alarm Keypad for 3 seconds.

7. Press the Refrigerator Temperature Up Keypad or Refrigerator Down Keypad to change the digit value with each key press.
8. The decimal point indicates the selected digit. Press the Freezer Temperature Up Keypad to select the next digit.
9. Once the desired Program CODE is entered, press and hold the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad until the Program CODE begins flashing indicating it has been saved.

NOTE: If you attempt to enter an invalid Program CODE the control will not save the new code, but will beep. (The unit will NOT run with a Program CODE of 0000). Once the Program CODE has been saved the Programming Mode is exited by pressing any key. If the new code is incorrect this process should be repeated. The Programming mode can be exited at any time by pressing Door Alarm key for 3 seconds or will exit if unattended for four minutes.

Programming Mode (Version 2):
NOTE: The Program Code is located on the Serial Plate on this unit after the word Code.
1. Press and hold the WATER Keypad.
2. Press and hold LL Keypad.
3. Release the WATER Keypad and wait 3 seconds.
4. The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode.
5. Entry is confirmed by pressing the LL Keypad once more.
6. The control will display the current Program CODE. This value should be validated with the Program
CODE printed on the unit serial plate.

NOTE: If the Program CODE is correct, the Programming Mode is exited by pressing water
Keypad for 3 seconds.

7. Press the UR Keypad or LR Keypad to change the digit value with each key press.
8. The decimal point indicates the selected digit. Press the UL Keypad to select the next digit.
9. Once the desired Program CODE is entered, press and hold the LL Keypad until the Program CODE
begins flashing indicating it has been saved.

NOTE: If you attempt to enter an invalid Program CODE the control will not save the new code, but will
beep. (The unit will NOT run with a Program CODE of 0000).Once the Program CODE has been saved
the Programming Mode is exited by pressing any key or by opening or closing the refrigerator door. If
the new code is incorrect this process should be repeated.
The Programming mode can be exited at any time by pressing WATER key for 3 seconds or will exit if

I followed directions, but when I enter proper code, unit still beeps. I noted others had similar problem. Is there a solution without entering 9999 codes?

  3. beerster Posted on January 15, 2019

The programming mode 1 worked perfectly for me. Thank you. I read code 2020 from inside my fridge on the serial number plate, and and now my beer is getting cold again.

    Thanks,

The new board is in and the programming code is set so I can use the control settings. How ever, I don’t hear the compressor or cooling fans operating. Any suggestions?

    • Ryan Posted on January 19, 2019

How long has it been? Some refrigerators have a 15 minute delay before it will kick on the compressor and start cooling.

  5. John Posted on May 24, 2019

Replaced the control board, entered the correct code, now my refrigerator runs, but will not shut off. Everything inside is freezing.

  6. Gary Wingerter Posted on October 4, 2019

Trying to enter the code but when I press the up arrow on the left there is no decimal point showing.

    • Ervin Ness Posted on November 5, 2020

Same problem, how did you fix

  7. Juan Alberto Guzman Posted on October 21, 2019

    • Katie Posted on November 29, 2019

Same problem. No decimal point showing! Did you figure it out?

      • Katie Posted on November 29, 2019

        Nevermind…I figured it out.

        • Patty Posted on September 19, 2020

Katie – what was the solution? I’m having same problem – no decimal point.

        • Renee Posted on September 29, 2020

We are having the same problem. No decimal point. Would love to know the solution.

          • Marjorie Posted on October 30, 2020

The instructions fail to say that step 2 must be done within 3 seconds of step 1 for the decimal point to be displayed. Once we found another site that had that crucial information, we were able to program the correct code and get our refrigerator to work.

  10. Becky Posted on November 25, 2019

I have replaced both boards on my whirlpool ref. It will not go into program mode. When I let go of display buttons, the display goes blank.

    • Eric Posted on June 14, 2020

      Becky,
I am having the same exact problem. How did you get your problem fixed?

  11. Erik Posted on December 6, 2019

I have the control board but there’s no program code any where on the unit? What do I do now?

    • David L Gehlhausen Posted on April 25, 2020

I do not have a code listed on my serial plate either. I have bought a refurbished board to replace the current one which works fine except for light on refrigerator side. I am hesitant to unplug and try to install refurbished one without a code, then I’m worse off than I am now.

How did you fix your problem without a code?.

      • Jeff Posted on July 17, 2020

Same Here! I have a 2015 Whirlpool Gold Series WRF736SDAM13. I Bought a replacement Control Board and went to write down the CODE off the serial plate in the fridge….And it was never printed there! Am I dead in the water without it? Can I replace this new control board without that Code? Will the Fridge recognize the new Board?

        Any help is appreciated.

  12. Adam Posted on January 24, 2020

I have a whirlpool gold model GI5SVAXL01. I’ve tried version 1 and it does absolutely nothing. Still flashing PE0000. Can’t do version 2 because I don’t have LL button.

    • Daniel acevedo Posted on April 6, 2020

Did u find the issue of the00000 flashing?

    • Liz Posted on May 28, 2020

Adam, did you find a fix?? I’m in the same boat as you – replaced the control board and for the life of me I can’t get it to program anything.

    • Troy Posted on September 19, 2020

The LL is the freezer – button
The UL is the freezer + button

  13. Sandy Posted on February 5, 2020

I am also having the problem with the decimal point not showing up. Does anyone know how to get it going?

  14. Dan Posted on April 23, 2020

    Hi everyone,

I have a Maytag Trilogy Fridge Freezer. Model G32026PELB and the Control Board has given up. I have bought a replacement and need a Program Code but the label with it on has been scraped off the fridge. Does anyone know what the code is?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

  15. Avalos Kathy Posted on April 24, 2020

I bought a new control board . But there is NO CODE on my refrigerator. Where can I find it ? Kenmore 106.56566400

    • David L Gehlhausen Posted on April 25, 2020

I have same problem… No code on serial plate. No code on paperwork that came with the unit.

I am afraid to unplug unit to try to replace and be worse off than I am now .

      • David L Gehlhausen Posted on April 25, 2020

Kathy, There was no code on mine either. Mine was mfg on 3/05, its on the plate. Maybe yours is also older and they didn’t need/use codes that’s why its not there.

OK, was thinking that I’ve had power failures due to storms and never had to reprogram anything so,

I just swapped a refurbished one in for mine on 4/25/2020 and so far everything seems to be working normally.

ice dispenses, water dispenses, frig light works, compressor runs, temp controls for freezer and frighted were the same as before I swapped. I would suggest you go for it.

        • Liz Posted on May 28, 2020

David, what did you swap out for a refurbished one? I just replaced the control board but can’t program the fridge – it just keeps displaying PEOOOO.

  16. Kimberly Fitzsimmons Posted on July 14, 2020

My board was replaced and is flashing PE0000 but none of the directions make it stop flashing or the decimal show up. I tried door open and shut

  17. Gary Posted on October 19, 2020

I replaced the board and got to flashing PE 0000 on the programming sequence. But when I push the refer temp up or down all i get is “H2O” or “ICE”. I don’t get numbers or decimals. Am I doing something wrong?

    • Daniel Posted on September 23, 2023

I also can’t get into program mode and only see H20 ICE only

      • Jeff Posted on November 9, 2023

Same issue with mine last night. has anyone found a solution to this?

  18. Weber Posted on October 29, 2020

I also was having same problem of not seeing the decimal point showing up and experimented with various things. Eventually it worked by trial and error. If I remember correctly, I think what made it work was keeping the right door of the fridge open before resetting the control panel. I give credit to one of the commenters in the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKwR05FCVWQ&t=161s) for pointing that out.

  19. Angie Posted on December 10, 2020

I’ve replaced the control board and was able to get into program mode but it will not accept the code. The code on my serial plate is 1411. Did anyone have this happen and what was your fix if so?

    • Avi Saroussi Posted on February 23, 2021

Did u fix it ? I have the samecode and isn’t working

  20. Vincent Ngo Posted on February 14, 2021

hi, I’ve seen 3 comments with the same problem but, I currently have trouble with fixing my fridge, i got the circuit board in, but when I put in power PE0000 flashes, and when I press up or down on the fridge side it turns from PE0000 to PE H2O or PE ICE, there is no decimal, but nothing I do works

    • bill Posted on August 21, 2021

I have the exact same problem as vincent Ngo any solution?

      • Ruben Posted on August 25, 2021

        Same problem

  21. Greg Brown Posted on May 11, 2021

Method One worked like a charm! Thank you!!
