How To Replace Frigidaire 316075103 Bake Element

Posted on July 14, 2014

Replacing the bake heating element on your Frigidaire built range is very easy.  In most cases, it should only take about 10 minutes.  The most common element used in Frigidaire ovens is part number 316075103.  This is the newest version of this element, some of the older part numbers for this element were 316075104 and 316075102, but they have been replaced with the newer 316075103 part number.

Note – This element is made by Frigidaire, but it may also found in these other brands:  Admiral, Crosley, Gibson, Kelvinator, Kenmore, Montgomery Wards, Tappan, White Westinghouse

Here is how to replace the 316075103 in your range:

First, before working on the stove, make sure it is unplugged.

Next, open the door and remove both of the oven racks.

Now remove the two 1/4″ hex head mounting screws on the back oven wall using a 1/4″ nut driver or socket.

Now carefully pull the element out of the back of the range.  Make sure the wires do not catch on anything and become disconnected.  There is not much extra wire, only about 1-2″.

With the element pulled out, carefully disconnect the spade terminals from the element.

Reinstall the new heating element in the reverse order.

I did all of this after spending over $50 on this part, and the heating element AND the broil element are both not working. Help?

    • Ryan Posted on October 2, 2014

You could have a bad control board. Usually if the bake and broil both stop working at the same time and the top burners still work, then you usually have a bad control board.

This could be more helpful. For example, what type/size screw drive is required. Also, how do you disconnect the spade terminals, and then reconnect them?

    • Ryan Posted on November 26, 2014

The screws are a 1/4″ hex head screw and you can remove them with a 1/4″ nut driver or a 1/4″ socket. The spade wire terminals just pull straight off and push back on. If the spade terminal will not come up easily then you might try grabbing the metal part of the connector with a needle nose pliers.

Will this work for the Broil element as well?
(The one on top will not heat up)

    • Ryan Posted on February 27, 2015

The process for replacing the broil element is very similar. In most cases there are some extra hanger brackets that have to be removed on the broil element.

  4. Kelly Posted on March 24, 2015

You mentioned the control board as a potential culprit if both elements stop working at the same time. Is that something I can replace on my own and if so, how is it done and what part number would I need? Is there any other trouble shooting that I can do to determine if the control board is the problem?

Thank you for such detailed instructions and step by step pictures above. They were very helpful if I need to change the element(s).

    • Ryan Posted on March 25, 2015

The control board is going specific to the model number for your stove. Search on our website using your model number to locate the correct control board. The control board is accessed by unplugging the stove and removing the upper back panel of the stove. Once you have the control board exposed there are normally two mounting screws holding it in place and you will need to transfer the wires one by one from the old control board over to the new control board. Also there is a sticker on the front of the control board that labels the buttons called an overlay that you will need to carefully peal off of the old part and stick onto the new part.

Most of the time when the top burners work but both element stopped working at the same time it is a failure of the control board. Before ordering the control board we recommend to unplug the stove and inspect the wiring to look for any burned or broken wires. If that checks out okay then you should be safe to replace the control board to fix the problem. If you have a multimeter and you are comfortable doing live voltage tests you can also do a voltage test at the bake and broil element terminals to look for 240V when the bake or broil element should be turned on.

    Hi Ryan,
I was able to replace the Broiler Element with some assistance from by brother who is an electrician.
When we were all done it still did not work. At this point I am assuming it is the control board.
    Any other suggestions?

Just replaced the baking element in my frigidaire oven make sure u pull the wires out enough to get a good hold on them I didn’t and had to take the back off to string the wire back where it needed to go but the blog with pix was extremely helpful

I got a new lower oven elemernt for electric Frigidaire oven. When i went to replace it, i noticef the female disconnect on red wire was not good and wire looked alittle nburnt.
If the terminal disconnect is bad and needed to be placed. What if I don’t have that exact female disconnect? Which connectors\ disconnects can I use to replace the old one?

    • Ryan Posted on September 11, 2015

The manufacture does not sell those connectors separately from the wiring harness for the stove. You could try matching the connector up with something from a local store that sells wire connectors.

  8. Russel Posted on August 31, 2015

I replaced the baking element but it does not work. The broil works but not the oven. I took out the thermocouple hooked it to a multimeter and put heat to the end. Resistance increased so I am assuming it’s good. What next??

    • Ryan Posted on September 17, 2015

You most likely have a bad control board or thermostat.

    Hi Ryan,
Thank you for this wonder blog!
I’ve got the old element out and the new one arrived today, but instead of being flat terminals these are bent at 90 degrees. Do I put the connectors on like usual or do I need special connectors for this?

    • Ryan Posted on September 17, 2015

As long as the wires reach okay and don’t interfere with anything, you should be able to put the wires on like normal.

  10. Arin Posted on January 20, 2016

Thanks so much! Just changed our out and it was so easy!

  11. Julianna Posted on February 10, 2016

This is a big help but I ran into a problem. The spade connectors won’t seem to disconnect. What is the secret?

    • Ryan Posted on February 23, 2016

If the spade connectors are difficult to remove, you may need to use to use a needle nose pliers to pull on the spade connector. Sometimes wiggling the wire connector back and for will help to loosen it up.

      • Alys Posted on April 6, 2021

The connectors to the oven heat element fell through the wholes and so did the broiler element. How can I get them back out?

        • Ryan Posted on April 7, 2021

You will probably need to unplug the range and remove the back panel to access the wires.

  12. Sarah Posted on March 9, 2016

I had to wiggle the element a bit to get it to come out far enough to disconnect, but it was very easy to disconnect the old and reconnect the new element. And now I have a working oven. Thanks for the help!

    • Joe Sperzel Posted on March 23, 2019

The mounting screws for my baking element are so worn can’t get a driver on it.Any solutions?

      • Ryan Posted on March 24, 2019

Try using a vice grip pliers to grab the screw head and turn it.

  13. Amy Posted on August 19, 2017

    Awesome worked perfectly !

  14. Deena Posted on October 31, 2020

I got a new heating element but oven still doesn’t work. Looked at the red and yellow wires and they need replacing. What do I order?

  15. Corey Posted on April 18, 2021

Is 316075103 and 316225000 the same? I’m having trouble getting one of spades back on any suggestion. I put the spade on and it slides right off. HELP

  16. Mike Posted on June 24, 2022

What is the wire size for the bake element? I need to replace the spade connectors. Somehow it shorted out on the back cover. The element will be replaced.
