GE WR30X10097 Ice Maker – Service & Replacement Info

Posted on July 11, 2014

One of the most common questions I get asked by customers is about the GE WR30X10097 ice maker found in GE french door refrigerators.  This ice maker will commonly start to make a clicking noise when it fails, and it won’t produce ice properly or won’t make any ice at all.  When something fails on this ice maker, the whole ice maker must be replaced as an assembly; there are no replacement parts sold separately for these ice makers.

How To Replace The Ice Maker

What’s the difference between the Samsung DA97-05422A (Aka IMC701) & GE WR30X10097?

How To Replace The WR30X10097 Ice Maker

First unplug your refrigerator, and remove the ice bin container. Remove the Phillips screw on the left side, this will allow you to remove the plastic panel that covers the wiring harness going to the ice maker. Unplug the wire connector going to the ice maker, and then push down on the locking tab on the top of the ice maker while pulling it towards you to remove it. The ice maker should now be free, and you can re-install the new ice maker in the reverse order.

What’s the difference between the Samsung DA97-05422A (Aka IMC701) & GE WR30X10097 Ice Makers?

If you have already removed your old ice maker, you may have noticed that on the bottom of the ice maker there is a sticker that says Samsung on the bottom of it. Even though the refrigerator is a GE refrigerator, the ice maker was built by Samsung for GE (along with some other components on the refrigerator). The sticker usually says “Model: IMC701”, lists the manufacture date, and lists the DA97-05422A part number in the bottom right corner. You can buy the replacement ice maker from GE, the part number for the replacement ice maker sold by GE is WR30X10097. You can save yourself a lot of money if you buy the same ice maker sold by Samsung. The DA97-05422A is the Samsung part number for the same ice maker.

GE Service Bulletin (Model made before 3/1/2008)

Some GE refrigerator models manufactured before March of 2008 require the ice maker and the main control board to be replaced to prevent further issues. The control board (part number WR55X10763) is replaced with a version that includes a newer software version. These ice makers can have symptoms of ice jamming between the ice maker and the liner, clicking & grinding noises, and low or no ice production. This service bulletin only affects certain model and serial number refrigerators, please make sure yours is part of this service bulletin before ordering the control board.

To access the main control board, you will need to unplug the refrigerator and pull out the refrigerator so you have access to the back side. Remove the screws to the control board cover, and you will have access to look at the tag on the control board to see what software version you have. The control board will need to be replaced if the software version is lower than 4.02. See the service sheet below for more information.

I Replaced My Ice Maker And It Still Doesn’t Work

There are multiple things that can cause your ice maker not to work. First check to see if you have water flowing to the refrigerator. Check in your owners manual & installation instructions that came with the refrigerator, it should state how much water pressure should be at the refrigerator. Low water pressure can make small ice cubes which can cause ice maker failures. If you have a water filter system in your house, then make sure you bypass the water filter inside the refrigerator. Doubling up on filters only lowers the water pressure further. If you haven’t replaced your water filter in the last 6-12 months, then replacing the water filter can help improve water flow. Most GE refrigerator models use the MWF water filter. The other components that work with the ice maker to make ice are the water inlet valve, and the main control board on the refrigerator. The temperature in the ice maker compartment must be less than 10°F to work properly. To check the temperature you should put an accurate thermometer in the ice bin for a few hours to see if it is cooling down to the proper temperature.

On the side of the ice maker is a test switch. Firmly press this button for a few seconds and the ice maker should go through a harvest cycle by dumping out the ice in the ice maker and filling up with water again.

My ice machine also does the clicking noise. When I removed it, I found the sweep arm was frozen in the down position in the ice cubes. I removed the sweep arm motor, and repositioned the sweep arms to be horizontal, (like your photo shows of the ice maker) then installed the sweep arm motor. What position should the arms be in at the start of the ice making cycle?

    • Ryan Posted on September 10, 2014

These ice makers are not designed to be serviceable. If there is a problem with the ice maker, the ice maker assembly should be replaced.

    • Chris Posted on July 5, 2021

My ice maker is making like a woofing noise no ice is coming out. I defrosted refrigerate and Put in new water filter and water comes out of water Dispenser in the front. It also was making a clicking sound but that stopped. Do I need to replace ice maker like the part in this post or do I need to check a few more things first. Please let me know thanks.

  2. GINA PRUE Posted on August 6, 2014

CAN YOU DISCONNECT THE ICE MAKER SO IT STOPS MAKING THAT NOISE UNTIL THE PART COMES IN?

    • Ryan Posted on September 10, 2014

On most model refrigerators it is okay to leave the ice make disconnected until the new part comes in.

    • cmalayo Posted on February 2, 2016

yes you can, first set the icemaker to off, then disconnect the icemaker

  3. James Posted on August 20, 2014

How do I remove the panel covering the wiring harness for the GE wr30x10097. The text states remove the Phillips screw and This will allow you to remove remove the panel covering the wiring harness.
I have removed the screw and pulled, pushed and wiggled, it seems to still be held on. Is there a tab to depress or a place to pry or another unseen screw?

    • Ryan Posted on September 10, 2014

On most models there is only the one screw holding this panel in place.

      • James Posted on November 3, 2014

True only1 screw but still cannot remove panel with screw removed.
How do I get panel off once screw is out?

        • Rohanc Posted on June 24, 2015

If you didnt get a reply as yet, after removing the screw, the panel should be slightly pulled outwards from the end of the screw. This will allow clearance for the panel to be pulled directly towards you, sliding out from the securing tabs located along the panel. Be gentle.

  4. Erwen Posted on September 15, 2014

Is there another way to check if my fridge is part of the service bulletin? It takes quite some effort to pull the fridge out in my case.

    • Ryan Posted on September 22, 2014

If yours is one of the affected models, you will need to pull out the refrigerator and look at the control board.

  5. Kevin Posted on September 25, 2014

I have an R/O water filter hooked up to my fridge. how do I bypass the filter that’s inside the fridge ? I got low water pressure , thanks

    • Ryan Posted on October 2, 2014

You will need to look inside your owners manual for your refrigerator to see how to bypass the water filter.

  6. Miike Jones Posted on September 26, 2014

I just successfully replaced the ice maker on my GE PFSS6PXASS fridge and it’s making ice great, but now the water dispenser is not working. Help?

    • Ryan Posted on October 2, 2014

Did the water dispenser stop working after you installed the new ice maker, or was it a previous problem?

  7. Don Reischl Posted on October 29, 2014

Bruce on July 6 indicated he had the sweep arm frozen into the cubes……I have the same problem……Is this an icemaker, sensor, fill or temperature problem………..also if this refrigerator and icemaker fall with in the bulletin dates would the repairs be covered by the manufactures in warranty……….Thank you for any any information…Don….

    • Ryan Posted on November 2, 2014

That type of problem is usually a failure of the ice maker. You will need to contact the manufacture regarding any warranty information for your refrigerator.

  8. Josh Posted on November 5, 2014

My fridge needs both the new ice maker and circuit board. Is there a cheaper Samsumg replacement for the circuit board too? Does the DA81-01421A set work with GE models?

Right now, I’m looking at $75 for the ice maker, and $150 for the GE-brand control board (= $225 total). If the DA81-01421A is compatible, it would be much cheaper for me.
    Thanks.

    • Ryan Posted on November 6, 2014

The control board included with DA81-01421A kit is NOT compatible with any GE models. There is not a cheaper Samsung replacement for the control board, you will have to purchase the correct one from GE.

  9. jwl Posted on November 11, 2014

My Ice maker went out, the mother board is defective, but I also have significant water accumulating under the bottom draw. Is this likely related to the mother board? thx

    • Ryan Posted on November 18, 2014

That problem is usually caused by the defrost drain getting clogged and/or ice up, it is most likely unrelated to the mother board.

  10. Robert Aplin Posted on December 3, 2014

    Instructions say,

‘Firmly press this button for a few seconds and the ice maker should go through a harvest cycle by dumping out the ice in the ice maker and filling up with water again.’

The above is not happening. Cubes, that are being made, are about 2/3s the size they should be and am only getting about 16 or so cubes every 6 hours. Ice cubes in the Ice Bin never covers the auger even after several days of not using ice cubes. Have never seen the ‘Sweep Arm’ extend down.

    • Ryan Posted on December 30, 2014

First make sure that the water pressure to the refrigerator is good. Low water pressure can cause the ice maker to make small ice cubes with low ice production.

  11. Bob Shuman Posted on January 1, 2015

The Ice maker on my GE PFSS6PKSBSS French Door refrigerator stopped working. I have removed the ice maker unit (Samsung Model IMC701 manufactured 3/03/2009) and discovered that the plastic gears on both the 120VAC motor (part #SSM-25HI) and the large gear with which it mates have several missing/broken teeth preventing correct operation. Question #1: Does the new replacement assembly GE WR30X10097 come with more durable improved gears? Question #2: Can I purchase just the gears and or motor and gear assembly without buying the entire module which is otherwise all working? Question #3: Can I purchase and use the Samsung replacement part (vs. GE part) which appears to be a little cheaper? Thanks in advance for replies. I have photos of the broken parts if desired.

    • Ryan Posted on January 14, 2015

      1. Samsung has made some changes to these ice makers, but I am not aware of any changes to the gears. Usually if the gears strip out it is due to another failure causing the gears to bind up.

      2. No, Samsung does not sell any parts for these ice makers separately.

      3. Yes, you should be able to buy the GE version of the ice maker for around half the cost of the GE. Just get the part number from the blue tag on the bottom to ensure you order the correct part.

      • Bob Shuman Posted on January 14, 2015

Thanks for the reply Ryan. When no one replied, I went ahead and replaced the ice maker and used the Samsung part (which was a little cheaper – about $89 shipped to the house) and it worked fine. By the way, my ice compartment only reached 16 degrees F, but seems to be making ice faster now with the new unit. I believe that the old one likely had been slowly breaking over recent years , so cube production had slowed.

I do believe the plastic gears that are used are not durable and this is probably a root cause for premature failure by so many consumers.

  12. Alex D Posted on January 5, 2015

    Hello,
It looks like my ice maker is having exact same issues as described in this post. I just want to double check that I need to replace only the ice maker and not the main control board. By the first look i believe I only need to replace the ice maker however I want to be certain and do this only once. Per the service bulletin it indicates that impacted main control board is on models:

    Models Affected: PFSS6 & PFSF6
    Manufacture Date: July 2007 – Feb 2008
    Serial Numbers: MM070000 – DR079999

    details of my fridge:
    Model: PFSS6
    Serial Number: RR553510
    Manufacturing date of ice maker: 2008 – 08 – 15
Manufacturing date of the Fridge: August, 2008

Thank you for your help and a Happy new Year

    Alex

    • Ryan Posted on January 14, 2015

Since your refrigerator was manufacture after Feb 2008 it will not need the main control board replaced as part of this service bulletin.

  13. Debra Posted on January 13, 2015

I replaced ice maker which wasn’t working (filter is new so water isn’t issue). Still doesn’t work. Checked software version 2.02. Assume I need new control panel. Frig Model number is GFSS6KKXASS. Based on that, I am finding I need a control panel model # WR55X10805. That is about $245 depending on what sight. I am assuming I am going in the right direction? Any thoughts

    • Ryan Posted on January 14, 2015

The next thing to check is the temperature in the ice maker compartment. The tempature needs to be 10F or colder for the ice maker to operate correctly.

      • Debra Posted on January 14, 2015

Once the temperature dropped to 10F, ice maker began to work. Not replacement of control board was required. Thank you
        Debra

        • Bill Posted on January 16, 2015

is there a way to adjust the temperature in the ice maker? Couldn’t figure out a way to do this.

          • Ryan Posted on January 16, 2015

There is no temperature control for the ice maker compartment, that is set from the factory and it is not adjustable.

My ice maker won’t top filling with water? Tried unplugging turning unit on off and starting stopping water supply. I have good water pressure. No issues with an older sears unit. Mine is GE profile french door 2014.

    Arrgghhhhh

    • Ryan Posted on February 26, 2015

If the water won’t stop even with the refrigerator unplugged, then you will need to replace the water inlet valve(s).

  16. Marti Posted on March 12, 2015

  17. Kyle Posted on April 7, 2015

GE Refrig Model GFSS6KKYCSS with a Samsung Icemaker that has no Manufacturing Date. The issue is that the ice freezes into large clumps of 6 to 10 cubes that jams the ice dispenser.

Not sure of cubes are melting and refreezing or if extra water is dumping onto the cubes. The clump of ice and cubes actually form to the rounded bottom of the tray and around the auger.

    HELP ! !

    • Ryan Posted on April 8, 2015

Have you checked the temperature in the ice maker compartment to ensure that it is getting to 10F or colder?

  18. Tom Posted on April 11, 2015

GE profile PSS26mstd refrigerator ice maker making cubes fine although is not dispensing. flapper is not activated and there is no response from the motor. the motor is not seized and the control panel lock control is not on. When depressing the dispenser control arm there is a noticeable power draw. all parts move freely witch makes me believe its an electrical issue.

    please help me Ryan

    • Ryan Posted on April 13, 2015

To test to see if the auger motor is bad, you will need to do a voltage test to see if the auger motor is receiving 120v. If the motor is receiving 120v but it is not running/turning then you should replace the auger motor.

      • Rohanc Posted on June 24, 2015

        Hello Ryan,

Is the auger motor you mentioned the same as the motor SSM-25HI mentioned in the post above by Bob Shuman on Jan 1, 2015?

        Thanks.

        • Ryan Posted on July 15, 2015

SSM-25HI doesn’t come up as a valid part number for me. It would be best to look up the auger motor with the model number from your refrigerator.

  19. Scott Posted on April 24, 2015

My GE PFSS6PKXBSS makes a terribly loud knocking sound several times each day, for about 10 minutes each time. Starting to sound like the icemaker needs replaced but its making ice just fine (I think). Which parts are required?

    • Ryan Posted on April 24, 2015

You will need to start by replacing the ice maker assembly part # DA97-05422A.

  20. Jeff Posted on May 16, 2015

I have a GE model GFSS6KKXASS, it has been making very slowly for a long time now. We have been supplementing our ice usage with bagged ice.
I finally broke down and bought a new ice maker and that did not fix the problem. After doing more research I found that the mother boards may need replaced on some models (mine NOT being one of them, according to the article). However, it also said if the board is labeled prior to rev 4.02 it should be replaced.
Mine is labeled 2.02. So, I’m a bit confused, could the mother board be what is causing the slow ice production? Do I spend $200.00 more dollars? Water pressure is fine at the door.

    • Ryan Posted on May 18, 2015

Your refrigerator is not one of the models that the control board must be replaced due to the software version. I would check to see if the temperature is the ice maker compartment is 10F or colder. Put a thermometer in the ice bucket and leave it closed for 12 hours and check the temp.

      • Jeff Posted on August 10, 2015

Freezer temp is 12 degrees. However I have noticed that it takes several minutes for the water to refill after the ice dumps. (7-12 minutes to be exact). I am thinking this is what is causing the low production of ice. Obviously if if takes this long between cycles your not going to get much per hour. Any thoughts on this?

  21. Ryan C Posted on May 19, 2015

I have a GE Gfss6kkxass french door. Knocking in the freezer occurred when my outside waterline broke and I tapped into my neighbors line with the hose. Ice still would produce but smaller in size. I’ve replaced my outside water line and now ice is no longer being made. I’ll try a thermometer to test for 10f or lower in the ice maker. Any chance it’s a water valve behind the fridge? Could be lower water pressure BUT I get good water from the dispenser in the door.

I’ve held the Test button for 10 seconds to reset and nothing happens.

    • Ryan Posted on May 22, 2015

It sounds like your water pressure to the refrigerator was low when you were using your neighbors water. Small sized ice cubes are a good indication of lower water pressure. Low water can cause failures of ice makers because the small ice cubes will not eject correctly and can jam up and ruin the ice maker. If the temp in the ice maker compartment is cold enough, then I would start by replacing the ice maker. The water valve could be bad, but from what you described it sounds like the ice maker is bad since it was making a knocking noise.

  22. Jeff Posted on May 26, 2015

I finally got my hands on a freezer thermometer. The temperature in the bucket is 12F. I assume this is not cold enough to allow the ice maker to keep up with demand. Where do I go from here? Thanks.

  23. Mike Posted on June 22, 2015

I have a GFSS6KKYASS and it quit producing ice, I tried to remove the ice maker but It felt like something was stiil attached at the back, what could it be? Is it just the two slots in the front that hold it in?

I am thinking I should just replace but haven’t seen any mention of what may be holding it in the back and as you know it is a tight fir for big hands.

    Thanks

    • Ryan Posted on July 15, 2015

There should not be anything in the back holding it in place. Try unplugging the refrigerator and letting the ice maker compartment warm up for a little bit. The ice maker could be frozen in place.

  24. Miles Posted on June 27, 2015

Have GE frig md PFSS6PKXSS. Ice maker makes ice but it does not dispense. Water does dispense. LED panel on front wont toggle between Ice and Water. Stays on Water. Also displays message on panel “Ice off”. Any advice?

    • Ryan Posted on July 16, 2015

I would check your owners manual, it sounds like someone might have turned the ice maker off on the front control.

  25. Ken Posted on July 5, 2015

I have a Samsung RF26VABWP with an ice machine of IMC701. The problem I am having is that there is no to very little ice production. If I hit the rest button the ice machine fills up with water and drops the ice oh, within two to three hours I would guess. After that the unit does not fill up with water again. The flow from the water dispenser is strong and if I swap the controls on between the water dispenser valve and the ice machine fill value I can fill the ice machine with the water dispensing switch. this all seemed to start after a 4 hour power outage. I am leaning towards the ice machine yet again. I replaced the unit about 2.5 years ago which the problem was the heating of the tray to get the ice out and had the clicking noise. Any suggestions? Thanks Ken

    • Ryan Posted on July 16, 2015

First check to make sure that the temperature in the ice maker compartment is below 10F. If the temperature is good, then I would start by replacing the ice maker. The main control board could also be causing your problem, but that is not very common.

  26. Bob Posted on July 27, 2015

I have a GE PFSS6PKXBSS. Serial # DS550326. I’m getting white plastic chunks in with my ice. Do I need to change the auger bucket assembly and the ice maker?

    • Ryan Posted on August 10, 2015

You will have to inspect the ice maker and ice bucket auger assembly to see which one is bad. Both are made from white plastic, so it could be coming from either one.

  27. Barbara Posted on July 29, 2015

I have a GE PFSS6PKXASS and I don’t know the year of the ice maker, though probably later than 3/08 because I bought it in Spring 2009. The ice maker will make ice but not cycle. It will dump ice and refill if “power cycled” (unplugged and plugged back in). What might be wrong? Is it fixable?

    • Ryan Posted on August 10, 2015

First check that the temperature in the ice maker compartment is 10F or colder. If the temperature is cold enough, then I would start by replacing the ice maker part # DA97-05422A.

      • Barbara Posted on August 10, 2015

thank you. The ice maker is not cold enough, and neither is the freezer! Prior to this problem with the temperature, we had emptied and unplugged the refrigerator to thaw the ice buildup in the drain tube which was leaking under the deli drawer. after plugging the refrigerator back in, a couple weeks later it is still not cold enough in the freezer or icemaker. The refrigerator seems to be fine. We have turned the temperature on the freezer down to the lowest possible, and it is still just above 20 degrees in the freezer compartment.

  28. John Posted on August 26, 2015

I have a GE model PFSS6PKWBSS SER# AR076579 I am having ice maker issues with. Per your recommendations I removed the ice maker and it’s blue tag show DOM of 1-17-2008 which I believe is the years with the service bulletin. After those findings I checked the control board for its VER.# and it was load Rev 4.02. I see you said if it was below VER 4.02 it would also need a new board. But if it is VER 4.02 is the board still ok? Or does it also need to be replaced?

    • Ryan Posted on September 17, 2015

The board does not need to be replaced.

  29. Kathleen Posted on August 27, 2015

I have a GE French Door fridge PFSS6PKWASS with a Samsung IMC701 Ice maker, which froze solid while we were away (likely the ice melted during a power outage and refroze). It is now making ice again, but the sweep arm broke off and I cannot get it to STOP making ice. Is there an on-off button? Turning the Off button on the door doesn’t work and I can’t for the life of me find a on-off switch on the icemaker itself.

    • Ryan Posted on September 17, 2015

Sometimes on the front panel there is an option to turn off the ice maker. See your owners manual for this information. I would recommend to replace the ice maker so you don’t accidentally leave the ice maker on and flood your house.

  30. Tom Posted on September 1, 2015

I have a GE model GFSS6KKYASS which is not making ice. The ICE compartment is not cold.
The freezer and fridge are cold. Recently the main board and both fans in the freezer were replaced because the freezer was not cold.
I replaced the ICE maker but that did not fix the problem? what do you think the next step is?

    • Ryan Posted on September 17, 2015

You will need to check the ice maker fan in the freezer compartment. If the fan is running and the cold air isn’t getting to the ice maker compartment then you might have frost or ice buildup in the air passage. The only fix for this is to unplug the refrigerator and leave the doors open for 24-48 hours to let it thaw out.

  31. Christian Posted on September 10, 2015

I have a GE refrigerator model PFSF5RKZC BB. The ice maker is mounted on the inside refrigerator door. There are 2 holes on the inside of the refrigerator that let cold air in from the freezer to the ice maker box. I’m guessing the bottom hole blows the air in and the top holes sucks the air out to create circulation. The problem I am having is that the ice maker won’t complete a cycle. When I turn it on initially I can do the “reset” by pushing the arm in 3 times and it makes 1 batch. After that I just get cold water sitting in the tray for hours. The temperature is only getting to around 30 degrees after the first batch is made.
Should the air flow from the freezer be continuous in order to freeze the ice? When the compressor turns off the air flow to the ice box stops because the evaporator fan stops. Is this an ice maker problem or control board problem?

    • Ryan Posted on September 17, 2015

If the ice maker compartment is not getting below 10F, then that is why the ice maker is not making ice.

A more timely response to this form that sells parts would surely be more helpful. It was several weeks ago that I had the issues with my icemaker. I have already purchased the parts and fixed my problem with more timely advise from a different parts supplier.

Is there a way to adjust water fill timer on a samsung ice maker model #imc701. I pulled the ice maker out and the plugged it back in. water only filled for less than 1 second.

    • Ryan Posted on February 23, 2016

There is no fill time adjustment on this ice maker.

Hi! My ice maker started making the knocking sound the night after I changed the water filter- the MWF one. I assume this is an issue with the water pressure then.. is there anything I can do?

A shout out to Parts Dr….your article was helpful and your web site making sure you order the ice maker P/N for the fridge was fantastic. About 5 minutes to install and replace and ice maker is back in business. I have bookmarked your page.

Just purchased a WR30X10131 ice maker but cannot get the old one out have pressed the clip all the way down at the front can see that the clip is released but cannot pull the ice maker forward to remove any ideas. thanks

You will probably need to unplug the refrigerator and leave the doors open for the ice maker compartment to warm up for a while. Do not use a blow dryer or heat gun as it will warp the plastic.

My ice maker (Samsung IMC701) is making ice, but does not “harvest” the ice. When I press the test button, nothing happens. Handle appears to be stuck in the up position (even after I remove the unit and thaw it out). I would like to disassemble the unit to see if something is jammed, but first I would like to determine if is is getting power. I believe it is a later one that does not need it’s motherboard replaced. Of the 10 leads, which ones to I test for power to the motor? Should it be getting power when I press the test button? Is there a wiring diagram available for this unit? Thank you for your help.

I have a 10 year old GE fridge that stopped making ice. There is a power switch and green LED lights when the switch is on. The green LED was not lit. I reset the fridge and still LED doesnt light. I tried another ice maker and still the same issue. I assume I am not getting the proper voltage to the ice maker since it will not turn on. I read on the web that there should be 120 volts AC to the ice maker. Does this voltage come from the control board?

    • Ryan Posted on August 22, 2019

It depends on the model of the refrigerator and you may have to check the wiring diagram to find out. But if the refrigerator uses the WR30X10097 ice maker, the power is supplied by the main control board.

I assume service bulletins are not the same as a recall. If true Ge does not pay for replacement parts.

I have a GE Profile PFSS6PKXASS french door refrigerator. I purchased it used and it is already 10 years old. The ice maker was not producing so after reading your posts I replaced it with the Samsung model you suggested. It is producing now. Only been a couple days so we shall see if it keeps up. I would also like to verify that I don’t need the Main Control Board as my manufacturing date of the frig was June 2008, although the software version on the left processor is Load Rev 2.02. Can you confirm? Now…My issue is (may have been caused by myself) that i reduced the temp in the refrigerator by several degrees and used the turbo cool a couple times to see if the frig temp was the issue. In doing so…the holes inside the refrigerator on the back side have iced up completely. The temp in my frig was at about 60 degrees. I unplugged and took a blow dryer to them last night and it seemed to be cooling down. If that doesn’t seem to help i will try to defrost it overnight and see if that works. Do you think it was the main control board needs to be replaced or because I tried to force it to cool?

    HELP!

Hi Tanya, your model refrigerator isn’t one that needed the main board replaced due to the software version.

Hi, I have a GE model number PFSS6PKXASS . We have been having problems with it making ice for awhile now but just recently it is not keeping the freezer or the fridge cold. Everything is coming on but its not keeping it cold. I checked the ice maker and it is a date of July 2008 so I don’t think we need to replace the ice maker but when I checked the main board it is a 2.02. Does this need replaced to fix these issues? Water pressure is fine and we have done all the other troubleshooting we can think of. Also I was checking prices on your site and I see the pictures shows a 2.02 version is that correct or should it say 4.02?

    • Ryan Posted on April 13, 2020

Your model refrigerator does not need the control board replaced due to the software version.

      Hello
I have refrigerator GE PFSS6PKWASS and replaced the ice maker 3x already. I noticed you mentioned that the system board may need to be replaced too. I looked at the board and found the following
      AW GE 267
      Main Rev 2.05

      AW GE 267
      Load Rev 4.02

I believe my system board is OK and doesn’t need to be replaced? Is that correct? I wonder why the ice maker keeps failing.

      Thanks

      • Ryan Posted on May 24, 2020

It sounds like you have the most recent software version. But, you could still have a defective control board that is causing problems with your ice maker.

        • Doug Posted on May 24, 2020

Thanks. The ice maker is currently not working so I’m wondering if I need to replace both now or just the board?

          Thanks

I have a GE french door refrigerator/model # PFSS6PKXASS and i initially found the ice shoot plugged up/no ice would fill my cup. I cleared the ice from the chute and my ice maker no longer works, I purchased and ice maker several years ago and that fixed it. Know it is doing the same thing and once again no ice. I have pushed the gray button on the ice maker several different times to see if it would cylce or fill with water , it didnt cycle and it isnt getting any water. I checked the trough where the water runs into the icemaker chute and it doesnt appear to be frozen. I have a new water filter installed and i purchased a new ice maker and still no water in the tray and no ice? We do have cold water to drink but no ice. Could this be the water valve for the ice maker and if so can you tell me how to test it with my digital/volt/ohm meter?

I have a GE Profile model PFSS6PKWBSS and the ice maker stopped working so I ordered a new one Model WR30X10097 and just replaced it today. It made only 7 pieces of ice and has not made anymore ice since this afternoon. I pulled down 3 times on the lever but nothing is happening. What could be wrong and what else can I do?

  44. Tim Posted on October 17, 2021

I have a GE GFSS6KKXASS refrigerator that I believe needs a new ice maker. I have replaced this a couple times before. I have always replaced it with the Samsung DA97-05422dA. This time when the ice maker came in, the plug pins were smaller. It still had 10 pins. I thought the first one was a fluke, but I ordered another one from another dealer and this one also had a smaller plug. Have you heard of this happening before?

    Thanks.

I have a GE fridge GFSS6KKXASS and the ice maker came off the hooks and fell into the ice bucket. I am unable to remove the ice bucket as the ice maker is creating the obstruction. Any recommendations? Is it possible to access the ice maker and bucket from behind the fridge?
