Frigidaire/Kenmore Range F11 Error Code Beeping

Video Transcript:

Hey what’s up guys its Ryan here with Parts Dr today and were back with another video. Here I’ve got a control board that a customer sent back to me. This is an interesting one the customer was getting an F11 error code on the display on the control board. If you’re not already familiar with that error code it means that the control board is sensing a stuck or shorted key on the touch membrane. The interesting thing with this one is when I was looking over the buttons on it is that they all look very similar except for this one over here in the bottom corner. And if we zoom in on it real close here you can that it looks like there is some sort of metal or corrosion that is causing this part of the metal to touch this part of the metal, which would be shorting out this key making it think that it is being pressed all of the time. If anyone has any idea of what might be causing this please leave us a comment below letting us know. I’m not sure if it’s moisture, or if it’s a problem with someone pressing the buttons too hard that is wearing and rubbing on this. Now one thing to note is the one that we are looking at here I have the overlay already removed off the front of it. Normally when this is sitting on your stove and installed into your stove your going to see the overlay faceplate which labels all of the buttons. So you would have your numbers over here and your bake and broil, clock, time, up and down arrows things like that. We have that removed just so we can show you what it looks like underneath of that. Now if you do have an F11 error code this piece on the front here is kind of like a sticker also this switch membrane and it is something that you could remove off of here. Unfortunately, the manufacture doesn’t sell this piece separate from the control board. So if you have one of these that is bad you have to replace the whole control board as an assembly. If you need to order one of these you can check out our website partsdr.com we will leave a link in the description below. There’s quite a few of these control boards and they all look very physically similar from the outside so make sure before you order one that you go on our website and search with the model number from your range or oven to make sure that you are ordering the correct one before you place an order. If this video help you out at all please hit the thumbs up button below. And you can also subscribe to our Youtube channel for more appliance repair videos. And if this video helped you fix the problem with your range or oven please just drop us a comment in the comments section below. We love to know when we’ve helped someone out fix their appliance. Thanks have a nice day!

How can I fix it, or shut it off

    • Ryan Posted on September 20, 2019

The fix is usually replacing the control board. You can unplug and turn off power to the range until you get it fixed.

i get an f11 message how can i fix the problem

    • Kenneth Posted on November 11, 2021

Thanks for posting!! I fixed it. I took the board off, peeled the outside cover off and found two keys corroded. I used a q-tip with alcohol to clean off the corrosion and put it back together. Code is gone and everything works fine. Took about 30 mins with only a 1/4 in socket-drive to take off panel and a phillips head screwdriver to remove the board. Easy to access. Some of the plugs were a little sticky to get off the back, but I was just careful to look for the release clip and I took a picture before I started taking them off so it was easy to know how to put back.

thank you for posting, i fixed mine the same way you said !!Saved my thanksgiving!

      • Jesse Posted on July 4, 2022

Thank you! Between the video and you comment, I was able to clean the one button that was causing the error (looks like it was caused by moisture) and everything is working again.

        • Risha Posted on November 23, 2023

You are all amazing. Got the F11 error the night before Thanksgiving, followed these instructions (and watched a few videos) and it’s working. As someone with no electrical experience, this is a doable fix

  2. Rebeca Posted on October 18, 2019

Thank you ! I can’t fix it by myself but at least I know what it is before I call the service

I have this Frigidair Professional dual propane cook top/electric dual oven that just went into F11 beeping as i was cooking Thanksgiving turkey and dressing. This range has been a big disappointment because the propane burners don’t heat evenly. Having one oven able to hold a turkey but no stuffing is unfortunate, and the stuffing pan won’t fit into the small oven.
I was able to stop the F11 beeping by cutting the circuit breaker. Then I put the stuffing dish into the dinky oven slanted. I’ll look into replacing the control panel, but frankly, I think this oven is junk. Expensive junk, at that.

    • Angela Posted on December 24, 2019

I agree! Frigidaire is awful. My stove isn’t even 3 years old and this is the second time this f11 code has happened and I replaced the whole panel the first time. Also have already had to get rid of my Frigidaire microwave that caught on fire! As soon as I can afford it I will be getting rid of all Frigidaire appliances.

  4. Kris Posted on January 8, 2020

Hey, your video helped me fix my range, thanks! I was able to clean the contacts with cotton swabs and reuse board and overlay. Culprit seems to be moisture mixed with oils and glue from the overlay getting between pads.

    • Mike Posted on August 21, 2020

I followed these directions and was able to get my oven working again. Saved a $500 repair!

      • Jackie Posted on March 4, 2021

What did you do to stop the error f11 message

    • Marisa Posted on March 1, 2021

Thank you! I took out the control board and used rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts. The F11 error code is gone! Saved me a lot of money for a whole new board

    • Kenneth Posted on November 11, 2021

Thanks for sharing Kris. I did the same thing and fixed it in about 30 mins without having to buy a new board.

  5. Brenda Parsons Posted on February 10, 2020

I have a f11 code, my oven is locked and wont open, food inside! Help@

    • Eric Posted on March 2, 2020

use a square screwdriver to unscrew the two screws that hold the lock system in the front. Now you can remove to clip pin and open it

      • Suzan Posted on October 29, 2020

Can u tell me where 2 screws
        Located

We where cooking Turkey for Easter, we had a back left burner on for about 2 hrs. The burner was the one closes to the buttons for the heating and temp control. I kinda think the heat and steam over time (2hrs). Was the problem we got when we got the f11 code and noise. Also the numbers that indicate the oven temp where going bonkers. Bright to very faint and very all over the place. We let it sit for a bit and the numbers stopped being speratic.
Kinda think its heat and steam from the pot that gave us the problems. Hope this helps anybody.

Thank you!!!!!!! I was able to fix my Electrolux ICON in wall oven that I thought was a lost cause because it had a stuck button and many power cycles and turning off the circuit did nothing to reset it. The replacement control board is $2000. I carefully took the control panel and used a cotton swab damp with rubbing alcohol and also used compressed air to blow out everything. My oven works again!!!!

    The “glue” used to affix the touch plate on the module softens as result of heat (and possibly moisture as well). When we got new range, we stored it for 3 weeks a in metal building in summer and after installed it started sending F11;

The glue softened too much in the top right corner. I cleaned the back surface and put the overlay back on. This was in 2017.
The range was working OK until yesterday. My dear wife ha pile of empty pots on the range top and it probably prevented air movement. Now the overlay (touch panes) is shifted down a’ 1/4 of inch, you can see the surface of the module. And the F11 is back.
Basically it is design problem. Poor choice of retention method.

    Hello,
Your video was awesome and very helpful. Thank You. I too had a f11 code on our Frigidaire gas range. It seems I had the same problem with the corrosion behind the face covering. One key had a build up of something. I took a cotton swab and alcohol and cleaned it three or four times.IT WORKED! So I thought it wise to clean all other contacts while I was here. Thank you for your help and the $300 replacement cost. Easy fix this time.

  11. Deborah Posted on November 24, 2020

how do you take it off so I can clean it. I think mine is moisture, I want to take it apart and clean it. but how do I remove the panel

  12. Jenn in Canada Posted on January 11, 2021

My Grandmother’s stove started beeping yesterday and showing the F11 code. It resolved after hitting cancel but today it started again. I followed the directions in your video and although she didn’t have corrosion, there was some grease build up. I cleaned the membrane and voila, fixed! Thank you so much for saving us hundreds of dollars for a new stove or repairs.

  13. WD Posted on January 21, 2021

Video very Helpful, explains problem well.

  14. Adam Posted on January 28, 2021

This worked for mine too!! Very easy to remove the display from the rear on my Kenmore.

Thank you soooooo much for posting and all the reply’s. What an easy repair.

  15. Frank Parkway Posted on January 29, 2021

I tried cleaning the circuit board, however things just go worse and now it wont work at all. So it looks like a replace for me, anyone know how much new circuit board cost

    • Ryan Posted on January 29, 2021

Just search your range model number in the search box at the top of our site.

  16. Pamela Weisbrod Posted on July 10, 2021

F11 errorFor me was definitely the glue seeping onto the contacts. Second time this is happened to me with this oven. First time under warranty and the repair man said it happened because of the electrical surge. Not. Bad design from Frigidaire.

  17. william Posted on July 22, 2021

Worked in the electronics sector for 40 years and this is a problem I’ve encountered hundreds of times. Usually caused by moisture finding its way to the membrane and coming in contact with some form of contaminate forming a resistive circuit between the contacts. Can be as simple as dust on the contacts and condensate from cooking. But its easily corrected using alcohol and a soft brush to clean the contacts.

  18. Jane Posted on November 27, 2021

You are a lifesaver! Thanksgiving dinner was saved. The hardest part of fixing the stove was pulling it out from the wall. Thank you!

  19. Kim Posted on January 22, 2022

I have had my Frigidaire Gallery wall oven for a year now and since it was purchased has beeped F011 in the middle of the night. Had techs out and replaced the control board twice. Same problem! What is up? All of the control boards can’t be bad!! Any idea on what else this could be? Typically beeps between 2 and 4 am, but has beeped at all times.

  20. Richard M Jachens Posted on March 1, 2023

Already replaced the board once previously. This time when I got the F11 code I searched for a fix and saw this video. Following your directions, I was able to clean the dirty button (“Cancel” button in bottom right corner) with a cotton swab and alcohol. Thanks so much!

  21. Heidi Posted on September 8, 2023

I have an older discontinued Frigidaire electric range model # FFEF3043LSK. While I was pre – heating the oven, I heard a pop sound inside the oven then the F-11 beeping code. I turned off the breaker for a few hours, flipped it back on. The F-11 code was gone. The surface burners are all heating up, but the bottom element and the broiler element will not work. Could this be the control board or is it time to get a new range? I priced the control board on the Frigidaire website and its 190$.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  22. Tamera Posted on September 18, 2023

I found this video looking up the error code. My double oven has set a 1 minute timer a few times recently, today it did this and then the error code came up. It is not a feature I use on the oven, so I don’t think it’s over use. I have been roasting a lot of items this week generating a fair amount of steam. Thanks for the info!!
