Repair & Advice
It all started with a water leak on a GE profile dishwasher model GDT695SSJ0SS. Your trouble shooting advice covers many areas. I went with a new sump gasket with no luck. Pulling the machine out of the cabinet and setting it on some 4X4's and using a mirror, I spotted the source of the leak (in the water diverter connection on the pump). A large tear from the hose clamp too tight and not set properly. That fixed the leak, but then the dishes were not drying. Again following your troubleshooting advice and videos, I went with replacing the vent fan and heating element. Testing the old ones with a meter finding full continuity. I replaced with the new ones anyway. Same results with the drying issue. researching some appliance forums found a similar problem and following the threads found a guy who suggested checking the TCO (Thermal Cut Off) incorporated in the wiring harness from the control board to the pump. It has a reset button that was tripped! Pressed it, reset the TCO, and TA-DA! Back to normal ops. Maybe you can include this check in you troubleshooting page for models that have one. The washer was down for a little over 2 weeks while all this was going on. After pulling the machine out and turning it sideways numerous times during parts replacement may have tripped that cut off. The REAL fix was only 2 minutes..... pulling the machine out and reaching under the tub to press the reset. I did learn the anatomy of my dishwasher though! Frustrating, but still better than replacing a new $700-800 machine.
