A plastic piece that holds the flapper in place had broken not allowing the door to close properly even though you could hear and see the flapper move in open and close position during diagnostic mode. It was fairly simple to remove and replace having but one screw and molex connector. No further freezing.

Air Diffuser Assembly Malfunction - Diffuser Flap Stuck Open with Clicking Noise.

Repair & Advice
I heard a clicking noise from the air diffuser assembly and found that the diffuser flap (regulating air flow between freezer and refrigerator) was stuck open. I removed the air diffuser housing, unplugged the air diffuser harness, and replaced the unit purchased from Parts Dr.
