Problem
The dishwasher's control panel behaved erratically - some buttons and some lights stopped working. We had the same problem during the dishwasher's first year and the control panel was replaced under warranty. This is a common problem on Maytag dishwashers due to corrosion on the control panel's ribbon.

Torx screwdriver
Repair & Advice
This was my first attempt to repair a major appliance and it was an easy fix. I removed the torx screws from the inside of the door which allowed me to then remove the front door panel. I then unplugged the control panel's connector, replaced it with the new control panel and reconnected it. Finally I replaced the door. 5 star rating is due to the ease of ordering from PartsDr and the quick delivery, definitely not for the Maytag part with a design issue that causes this problem.

Problem
Control panel on Maytag dishwasher was doing what it damn well pleased as opposed to what we wanted it to do.

Repair & Advice
NEVER purchase parts from SEARS, no matter how critical the timing is. Sears wanted $265 for a new control panel wherein I purchased the same, identical part from PARTS DR. for a mere $87.11. Let me say that again..., I SAVED $177. 89 by purchasing my part from PARTS DR.

Problem
After just 3 yrs, our Maytag dishwasher start button would not work. The dishwasher would start when buttons were not pushed. Other buttons would not work at times. Plus, the dishwasher would beep at random times.
Tools
Screw driver or drill to open the door cover.
Repair & Advice
The control panel shorted out. There was rust on the wires. I bought a new control panel and used silicone caulk to seal the panel. Plus a I applied liquid electrical tape to the wires to better protect them. It appears that the steam during the drying cycle gets into the door at the top of the door and water runs down the wires leading from the control panel. Over time, this created rust which resulted in the shorting out of the start button.
