Samsung upper French door gaskets have a very thin overlapping edge that wore out and started to separate from the main gasket; It was time to replace both gaskets after only three years, Aaaargh!!!!!!!

Household cleaning solution. Paper towels. Permanent marking pen. A thin wood kitchen spatula.

Since the gaskets were delivered in their own ORIGINAL cardboard safety packaging that have several cutout holes to reduce weight and save trees, the Inconspicuous looking item appeared to trash ready to be dumped. It might be a good idea to have some kind of rubber stamp saying "PARTS DR Order Inside", use bright red ink and stamp the "warehouse packaging" ALL OVER to make it abundantly obvious this is something important; Even though it looks like trash, it IS NOT TRASH!!!!!! That being said, to DIY this repair; [ 1 ] Remove the old gaskets by gently pulling them out of the refrigerator door grooves (salvage / re-purpose the magnetic strips found inside the old gaskets for neat projects, i.e. refrigerator magnets for those precious pictures and children's drawings), [ 2 ] Take time to clean the French door edges before installing the new gaskets. [ 3 ] Install the RIGHT side door gasket first (there is no top or bottom edge so you can place it in either direction) Doing this door first will let you see how it merely press fits easily into the door. [ 4 ] Before installing the LEFT side gasket, take time to write (use a permanent pen) the SAMSUNG part number, PARTS DR item number, your PARTS DR account number and password on the backside of the gasket, you will be needing more gaskets in three years. [ 5 ] Starting at the TOP edge, press the gasket into the groove and work your way -clockwise- down the door toward the bottom and continue pressing along the BOTTOM edge. [ 6 ] Now comes the most difficult part of the installation; Pressing the new gasket into the door groove alongside the large plastic automatic door sealer bar, DO NOT remove the sealer bar. Press the gasket into the groove as best you can by using JUST your finger tips. Then find a thin wooden kitchen spatula to use as a helpful non-paint chipping tool to reach behind the sealer bar and complete the final seating of the last edge of the gasket. [ 7 ] Recycle the warehouse packaging materials. [ 8 ] Repeat as needed; Approximately every three years.

The gasket on the right door had a little flap on the handle side that was tearing.

No tools required.

When I received the new gasket, I placed it in a warm place per instructions. This helped straighten out the gasket after being folded in the shipping box. The next day I removed the old gasket with my fingers and replaced it with the new gasket. It was very simple.

The Samsung Door gaskets were exactly as advertised. They came in a flat cardboard shipping box that looked like it went through the wringer. I was afraid that the gaskets would be creased and deformed. To my surprise they looked perfect when I took them out of the box. The install was easy peasy. I looked at 2 different YouTube videos to make sure that I was doing it correctly, and they are working perfectly.
