Problem
LG Dishwasher Error Code E1
Tools
Phillips and flat blade screwdrivers, wrench (I think 5/8"), small-to-medium vice grip pliers, pipe dope
Repair & Advice
We have hard water, and after 10 years of use, the Inlet Valve on our LG dishwasher was packed full of scaly calcium/lime and prevented water from flowing into the unit. The E1 code began intermittently, but over a few weeks became persistent.
Found Parts Doctor online and their video helped diagnose the problem. Part fit perfectly, and an OEM part.
Challenges with installation included: to gain access to the back of the water inlet valve, need to remove the smaller of the two clear plastic tanks on the side of the washer - this tank has 2 float switches which were somewhat difficult to remove (easier to remove the switches than to disconnect the wires). There's also a plastic tab attaching this smaller tank to the larger tank.
Reinstalling the small plastic tank was difficult, as there's not much room to work, and required bending the larger tank and bending the plastic tab which holds the smaller tank to the larger tank (I was worried I would break this tab, but it didn't break).
Turned water on, ran dishwasher and flooded the kitchen! Problem was the inlet hose into the small plastic tank has a very short roughly 1" diameter hose which connected to the bottom of the dishwasher, and I inadvertently pulled this hose off the bottom of dishwasher. This hose is held in place by a spring-loaded hose clamp, but there's no flange on the connection on bottom of dishwasher, so it's easy to pull this hose off by accident.
So disconnected the small water tank again, and, working with 1 hand in the small space, reattached and clamped the hose to bottom of dishwasher, reconnected everything, and it works perfectly.
A video showing how to complete installation of the new water inlet valve would be useful, as I'm sure there's a better way to do it than the way I did it - but it worked.

Problem
LG dishwasher Error "IE" indicating fill valve likely clogged or not opening.
Tools
Usual, basic tools.
Repair & Advice
They recommend not trying to repair a clogged fill valve, because of the risk the valve will lead. I ignored that advice. Take it from me: that was a mistake. Just order a new valve.
