Problem
Washer was leaking from the front bottom due to tear in door boot gasket.
Tools
Screw drivers (Philips head and slotted head), 5mm socket, pliers and a spring stretching tool.
Repair & Advice
I watched a number of repair videos on line which were very helpful. There are basically two methods of replacing this boot; the long one where you disassemble the front of the washer, replace the boot and reassemble the washer and the short one where you just "muscle" your way into the opened door and rip the old one out and "muscle" the new one in. If I was 40 years younger I might have tried the muscle approach but I am 77 years old so I used the long method.
Following the procedure used in the repair video made for an easy repair. Keep in mind that those videos always show repairs to brand new never used factory delivered appliances. Expect a surprise or two. For example my washer is 11 years old and had some corrosion. The repairman in the video removed the top of his washer in 2 minutes. It took me 30 as there was corrosion between my top and the the side chassis. I had to find a wooden wedge to break the two pieces free. Additionally the manufacturers will refine their assembly process over the years. I had one small hose secured to its fitting via a ty-wrap whereas the video showed a clamp.
It took me about 4 hours from start to finish but I am methodical and old. My best advice for someone doing this job is to watch a video or two and purchase a spring spreader. I don't think I could have done this repair without a spring spreader. Cost of the tool was around $13 + tax. You use it 4 times with this repair. Make sure you get a spreader that expands over 4 inches.

Door Boot Gasket needed to be replaced.
Tools
Pliers, spring spreader.
Repair & Advice
First time replacing door boot seal on LG front load washer. Used detergent to make it easier to fit boot seal over tank opening rim. Spring spreader tool made removing and installing the seal retainer band easier. It was a challenging job, but well worth the effort. New boot seal works very well.
