Repair & Advice
Stove frequently turns off once preheat is reached in lower oven, or during baking in lower oven. When it turns off, the clock flashes 12:00. Other sites have notes that there is voltage drop on the control board caused by a problem on this relay board. Cut power, unplug, remove back covers. The difficulty with relay board install job is the removal of the wiring harnesses and installation of the wiring harnesses aligning the pins on the board with the socket on the harness. It is possible to miss-align the socket. Also, board standoff spacers are not supplied with this board. Do not recommend transferring and pressing them into the new board, the pressure to install them may damage the new board, just slip them on behind the board when the mounting screw is put through the board. Care must be taken when reinstalling the wiring harnesses to not push so hard as to flex the circuit board. Wiggle them on gently until you hear them click and seat on the board. This board eliminated the near constant stove resets during baking in the lower oven of the Sears Kenmore Elite Double Oven Model 790 980 23801
