Problem
Switch would turn on but not off and began burning. Had to shut power off. Basically while cleaning the downdraft the switch eventually built up with debris. 20 years of build-up, caused it to jam.
Tools
Philips screw diver and an inquisitive mind with mechanical aptitude.
Repair & Advice
Basically 4 screws were removed. Two that hold the top cover and 2 more that hold the bracket containing the switch. You’ll need to remove the dial that turns on the fan by reaching in with a screwdriver and in lip the 2 arms. Then remove the switch ring holding it to the bracket. The switch has a cover that also needs to be removed and saved to use on the new switch. Very easy, just need to look at how they assemble this bracket. UNPLUG THE POWER FIRST!!!

Problem
Original switch shorted because of water used when cleaning.
Tools
Screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
The original switch had a small electrical fire because water was used to clean the area around it, and it did not have a good seal. The vent was then stuck open after we unplugged the unit. This switch was a direct replacement, and even included the proper wire connectors and wire colors for an easy replacement.
